Had she known...

Had she known her share of laughter was only one spring, she'd have prepared all her winter smiles! Salome. N.saz

What is your story?

Immigration is such a complicated and the most influential life process (in my opinion). With migration come many intensive changes; good or bad- who can possibly be the judge of that; after all, all the rights and wrongs are man made and full of human errors. With migration your family becomes a stranger, your new friend becomes your family and you become "the stranger" in the new land. Your mornings rapidly turn to midnights and nights become the early mornings. And it's when a cup of black coffee with extra espresso shots becomes a sweet companion for you, the early riser! You put pressure on your mother tongue to change itself ; to blend in and put on a new hat. Your brain works so hard days and nights to make this transition, this constant translation possible . Until one day, you wake up so proud remembering "last night you had a dream in your second language without any subtitle!" However, no matter how hard you try to become anew, there is always a little taste of Middle East underneath the lines and the scenes in your dreams, just like in your accent. After awhile you miss home, family and your mother tongue, so you start looking for any sign that takes you back to your sweet old memories, you begin making friends with whoever is from back home. When you start calling anyone who speaks your mother tongue , "friend," a confusion within a confusion is born and starts growing on you. And one day, you start questioning yourself and your new life style. " would I ever have a friendship/relationship with this person if I was back home?" - and The answer would most possibly be a "no." Then, a new chapter begins within you; you start a clean up in your life. This stage might take a while ,maybe several years. Finally, after you are done cleaning up, you are most likely half way through your life , and there is not much time left to waste for the next half. So you start picking and matching- paying close attention to details. You become as picky as you can get and start enjoying yourself, you adore whoever you've become, and yes you have every right in the universe to do so , because you have come a long way, the new worthwhile "you" had to take so many roles, wear so many masks until you finally came out, and all that took guts! Enjoy your worthwhile, complicated, unique, self-created "you";but, try to look back upon your life once in a while; if you do so, you will never judge a soul before you listen to her/his story! Are you a dreamer?

Think about it…What kind of a non-believer are you if you make belief in non-belief? Based on your take in life, you are either a believer or a dreamer! Salome N. Saz

This too shall pass!

Yes, world is such a complicated place and can be cruel sometimes- if not most of the time. By now you should've somehow realized you cannot single handedly change the world . What you can do though is to change your direction, vantage point and perspective of the world around you. So, for your own sake look around you, if you can't find anything to make you feel better, try harder; aim to find and grasp a reason to put a smile on your lips. Life is too short to be deceived by its cruelty-Let it fool you by its beauty instead, and enjoy this crazy ride. Make your breadth worthwhile; this too shall pass! Salome N. Saz

Simply Blame it all on the Algebra ...<...,...>...!

Once upon a time , there was a 1 who was happily & proudly living in a Zero land. One day, 2, the new number on the block showed up! As soon as 1 saw 2, he thought: "I am 'THE 1' but '2' is GREATER!" Since that day "1< 2" lived unhappily ever after; day after day he felt smaller and smaller ! The End! Salome N. Saz

Age is Just A Number!

Age is just A Number-I learned it by heart when spent the last 20 days with my 15 year old son. To me, he is the symbol of pure love, patience and wisdom ; I learned some life lessons from him that I could not have learned from anyone or anywhere else! My son is my "hero," my "role model," and the most explicit proof to me that "God Exists, and I am loved by him." Age does not matter, what matter is "how one perceives the world around him/her!" When you turn "hell into heaven," you are the "one," you are the "mature one!" Salome N. Saz

I believe I believe I believe!

I believe every one of us lands in this world with a purpose. If only we pay attention to the signs and details that cross our path so frequently, we'll discover our true sole purpose. Granting what has been written on the wall of my destiny, l am determined to make a promise to shine a light for any lost soul who comes my way! Salome N. Saz

Roses are Red, and the sky is Blue!

The moment you told me "all roses are red and the sky is only blue," I felt invisible inside- you had never noticed the "black"of my eyes, "yellow" of my skin, or the "violet" of my heart! Salome N. Saz

Happy Valentines to all the "breathing-souls In love!"

It's been 20 years, but seems like yesterday: They said, " love has made you blind." I said, "love has given me the chance to see the world through my soul." They said, "love has taken away your senses." I said, "with love I can feel the delicacy of the world's flavor." They said, "love has broken your stride." I said, "love has become the wind beneath my wings." . . . They say, "love dies." I say, " so does everything else in this world; its impermanence helps me enjoy every moment of it while still alive." Happy Valentines to all the "breathing-souls In love!" Salome N. Saz
